Half Life 2 Roleplay Server Rules Empty Half Life 2 Roleplay Server Rules

The following are the rules for the Absolute Aberration HL2RP server. All the listed rules should be followed at all times by every player on the server. If a user is found guilty of breaking any of the following rules, punishment will ensue. Punishment varies depending on rules broken and the severity of the incident.

Useful terms:
OOC - Out Of Character
IC - In Character

1.) No Metagaming
- Metagaming is the act of using OOC information ICly. An example of this could be if your friend contacted you OOCly (over Steam chat, for example) and told you that he was getting arrested by Civil Protection and needed your help. If you were to go to your friend and attempt to help him without any firsthand IC knowledge, it would be considered metagaming.
- Punishment for metagaming includes a temporary/permanent ban based on severity.

2.) No Powergaming
- Powergaming is forcing your actions upon another player without giving the other player a chance to react or roll for the action. For example, if you are being arrested by a Civil Protection unit and you type out "/me spins around, kicking the unit in the neck and knocking him out before stealing his pistol and running away." The proper way to do this would be, "/me attempts to kick the unit in the neck, knocking him down." Both parties would then roll for the action, and roleplay would continue that way.
- Punishment for powergaming includes a temporary/permanent ban based on severity.

3.) No Acting Out of Character For Extended Periods of Time
- If things come down to it, it's okay to act out of character for a little while to blow off some steam or discuss something in LOOC, but if you're still not roleplaying properly after around 5 minutes, then you're doing something seriously wrong.
- Usually no punishment has to be involved, an admin will simply come and set you back on track if it becomes too much of an issue.

4.) Respect Each Other and The Server
- This one is pretty simple. Don't harass each other in OOC chat. If you're going to argue about something, do everyone a favor and do it over a private Steam chat. No one wants to see your constant OOC bickering. On top of that, respect the server by not spawning in props in a deliberate attempt to crash or lag the server, and if you find any bugs or things that obviously need patching by the staff, please notify us and don't exploit.
- Punishment includes an OOC mute and/or temporary ban.

5.) Keep the Fundamental RP Styles in Mind
- This means that you should always properly FearRP, S2M (Shoot to Miss), and P2L (Play to Lose).
- Punishment includes a temporary/permanent ban based on severity.

6.) Do not Spam Chat
- Once again, this is a pretty simple rule to follow. Don't spam chat by repeating a message over and over again.
- Punishment begins with a warning, but may escalate to a temporary ban.

7.) Do not Abuse Props
- Do not abuse props by doing things like propclimbing (using props to reach someplace where you normally couldn't go), kill each other with them, or block areas of the map with props.
- Punishment includes immediate removal of PET flags.

8.) Do not Name Your Characters After Famous Figures
- Under no circumstances may you name your character after any famous person, in real life or not. This means no Gordon Freemans, no Alyx Vances, and no Michael Jacksons. Be original with your names.
- First offence is simply a rename, repeat offenses may include a temporary ban.

9.) Do not Exploit Low Population Counts
- This includes mugging/stealing from units when there are less than four units online in total.
- Punishment includes a temporary ban.

10.) No 'Asspulling' Items
- This includes spawning items that your character does not possess ICly. For example, you sit down at a table with a friend and randomly pull out two bottles of beer from your pocket. If you didn't get those beers ICly, it would be considered asspulling and therefore would be breaking the rules.
- Punishment for breaking this rule may include a temporary or permanent ban.

All of these rules are subject to change whenever deemed necessary by the Absolute Aberration staff.
