Overwatch Transhuman Arm Database Otaw

Preface

The following guide is to help new OTA units ease into the prospect of roleplaying as an OTA unit. I'll continue to flesh it out and fix and mistakes with it over time. If you happen to find any problems with the guide, or wish to input your own ideas, please contact Gimlie.

Part I, Introduction

The Overwatch Transhuman Arm (commonly abbreviated to OTA) is a collection of half-synthetic and half-human super soldiers pumped full of augmentations and enhanced physical attributes that are often called in to deal with the Union's dirtiest work. These super soldiers wear extremely high-durability kevlar and wield weaponry that most other units don't have access to. OTA units are also brainwashed beyond normal capacity and filled with numerous loyalty implants, meaning that it's virtually impossible for them to suddenly have a change of morals and turn on their higher-ups.

While not dealing with high-priority targets or hunting down anti-citizens, OTA units (unlike regular ground units) do not patrol the streets, but instead go into a state of cryostasis in specifically designed cryo pods. OTA units are only authorized to exit their cryo pods when a unit the rank of Divisional Leader or higher gives them the order to. Because of this, the appearance of OTA in the city is somewhat rare and out of the ordinary.

The biggest difference between regular ground units and OTA units is the fact that while ground units act as a police force and are takes with keeping citizens in line, the OTA is more on the lines of an army, tasked with engaging the worst criminals that the UU deals with. OTA units also don't typically interact with members of the civilian population, and the same goes to members of the CCA.

Part II, Armament, Equipment, Roles and Ranks

Ranks go in descending order.

OWL (Overwatch Leader)

The Overwatch Leader is the top of his class and is usually seen in command of various OTA operations around the city, armed with a standard issue AR-2 Pulse Rifle, extremely high grade kevlar, a number of fragmentation grenades, and various other military-grade pieces of equipment. Upon spotting this unit, most anti-citizens would turn tail and run for the hills.  It is this unit's responsibility to organize OTA troops in combat. The OWL unit takes orders from ONLY the Sectorial. There is only one OWL unit per city.

EOW (Elite Overwatch)

The Elite Overwatch unit is the second in command to the OWL, and can substitute for the OWL if needed. These soldiers are seasoned veterans in terms of combat experience, and sport much of the same equipment as the OWL. The Elite Overwatch soldier may carry two fragmentation grenades, one smoke grenade, and one flashbang grenade. Kevlar upgrades are provided for EOWs, making them able to sustain more hits before going down.

SqL (Squad Leader)

The OTA Squad Leader is a considerable force to reckon with, armed with either a shotgun for breaching activities or a standard-issue AR2 pulse rifle, this unit is able to withstand more hits, put more fire downrange, and dish out more damage than the standard OWS. The SqL is also equipped with an upgraded suit of kevlar, two fragmentation grenades, one flashbang grenade, and one smoke grenade. If available, the SqL will be the point man during breaching activities.

OWS (Overwatch Soldier)

The Overwatch Soldier is the lowest rank in the OTA force. Fresh OTA units are assigned this rank, armed with a standard issue AR-2 pulse rifle and a set of heavy kevlar, along with one fragmentation grenade and choice between either a flashbang grenade or a smoke grenade for concealment.

Part III, Tactics and Behavior

OTA units are extraordinarily professional both in combat and non-combat situations. The only verbal communication that should happen between OTA units should be about current combat situations or other combat-related things. You shouldn't see an OTA making passive conversation with another unit or citizen. OTA units typically don't interact or talk with any other units or citizens at all, aside from speaking simple phrases that usually relate to the situation at hand or other combat related activities.

The OTA breaching protocol is similar to that of the CCA. The lead unit calls out 'stack' to signify that the squad's objective is to stack on the door. Units stack up around the door intended to be breached, with the pointman stacking on the side of the door handle and the rest of the squad stacking on the opposite side. Once every unit is in position, the pointman calls out 'lock' in order to signal to the rest of the squad to ready weapons. After that, the pointman either attaches a door charge to the door handle or simply fires at it, saying 'inject' so signify to the other units to enter the room and clear out any potentially hostile threats.
